    “Ang consequence nun, naging loose ball, nakuha namin yung bola, tapos pina-jump ball nila. Tingin ko maling-mali yung interpretation na yun. It should have been our ball kasi kami ang maagrabyado. Actually, it could have been a fastbreak eh. Puwede naming i-fastbreak yun kasi turnover eh. Tinanggalan pa kami ng fastbreak,” said Guiao.

    “I don’t know if they will review that pero tingin ko mali,” said Guiao.

    The result wasn’t just a win—it was a statement. After getting swept twice by the Lady Falcons in the eliminations, UST came into the knockout match with a different look: sharper, more connected, and far more relentless. 

     

    The Golden Tigresses dictated the tempo early and never allowed Adamson to settle into the same rhythm that once gave them control of the matchup.

     

    “Credit sa players namin. Grabe ‘yung effort na ginawa. Actually, hindi naman todo-todo ‘yung training pero mas inaral lang kung ano ‘yung tamang galaw, mas nagkaroon ng communication, saka ‘yung effort na mag-all-out sa game,” said UST head coach Shaq Delos Santos.

The final result, however, came down to the last sail, where the Thai bet edged ahead to claim gold, leaving Castillo with silver after placing second in the decisive race. A planned 14th heat was eventually scrapped due to unfavorable weather, sealing the final standings.

     

    Despite falling just short of the top podium, the result marked another strong showing for Castillo, who entered the competition as a gold medalist from the previous Southeast Asian Games.     “Of course, during training, it’s really hard. You have to persevere,” Castillo said. “You really put all your heart into these competitions. My family told me to always be careful, do your best, while my coaches, they said, always stay focused.”
