    PVL Press Corps unveils major awardees for PVL Awards Night  

    From rising superstars and breakout scorers to seasoned veterans and inspiring comeback stories, the 2025-26 PVL season produced no shortage of memorable performances.

     

    Now, the league’s brightest names are set to take center stage once more as the best players and biggest stories of the year will be celebrated in the 2nd Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards Night on May 30 at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Cubao.

     

    Headlining the annual recognition rites is Capital1 rookie sensation Bella Belen, whose seamless transition to the professional ranks earned her the Rookie of the Year award after an impressive debut season.

     

    The former National University star immediately became one of the Solar Spikers’ focal points, showcasing her all-around brilliance on both offense and defense while proving she could thrive under the pressure that came with being the top overall pick of the 2025 PVL Draft.

     

    Belen tallied 69 media votes, 26 team votes, and 91.284 statistical points to finish with 186.284 total points and beat fellow rookies AC Miner, Jean Asis, and Riza Nogales for the recognition.

     

    Her stellar campaign also earned her a place in the season’s Mythical Team and the Best Outside Spiker award after emerging as one of the league’s top scorers and receivers during the All-Filipino Conference.

     

    Joining her in the Best Outside Spiker category is PLDT star Savi Davison, who once again established herself as one of the league’s most consistent offensive weapons.

     

    But the awards night won’t simply celebrate new stars — it will also honor the veterans and comeback stories that shaped the season.

     

    Creamline icon Alyssa Valdez will receive the Miss Quality Minutes award after repeatedly delivering in crucial moments for the Cool Smashers during one of the franchise’s toughest title runs.

     

    With several key Creamline stars dealing with injuries late in the conference, Valdez stepped up with timely performances that helped steady the team en route to its 11th PVL championship.

     

    Another emotional highlight of the night belongs to Kianna Dy, who captured the Comeback Player of the Year award following her inspiring return from a lengthy knee injury recovery.

     

    After missing 559 days, the PLDT standout gradually rediscovered her rhythm and eventually became a major piece in the High Speed Hitters’ successful campaign that included titles in the PVL On Tour and Invitational Conference before a bronze medal finish in the All-Filipino Conference.

    Meanwhile, Erika Santos’ rise into stardom earned her the Most Improved Player award.

     

    Following her move from PLDT to Cignal, Santos blossomed into one of the league’s premier scorers and helped power the Super Spikers to a breakthrough finals appearance in the All-Filipino Conference. Her breakout year also included winning MVP honors during the 2025 PVL On Tour.

     

    Farm Fresh standout Trisha Tubu will also be recognized after winning Best Opposite Spiker honors behind a season that elevated both her reputation and the Foxies franchise.

     

    Tubu spearheaded Farm Fresh’s historic fourth-place finish in the All-Filipino Conference while cementing herself as one of the league’s most dangerous scorers.

     

    Several of the PVL’s most reliable veterans and specialists are likewise set to receive recognition.

     

    Cignal playmaker Gel Cayuna earned Best Setter honors after orchestrating one of the league’s top offenses, while PLDT defensive anchor Kath Arado took home the Best Libero award once again behind another elite season on the floor.

     

    Creamline veteran Pangs Panaga and PLDT ace Majoy Baron, meanwhile, secured the Best Middle Blocker citations after anchoring their respective teams at the net throughout the year.

     

    Taken together, the awardees perfectly captured the story of the PVL season itself — a campaign defined by new stars emerging, veterans continuing to deliver, and players overcoming adversity to leave their mark on the league.

    The race to the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Star Showcase is turning into a fan-driven chess match, where every vote reshapes the board. 


    With the third voting update now in, familiar names remain dominant, but the real story lies in the sudden surges, quiet takeovers, and tightening battles across positions.

     

    For Team Heart, the spotlight has shifted dramatically to the wings. Alyssa Valdez of Creamline has climbed to second among outside hitters with 14.60%, overtaking Bella Belen of Capital1, who now holds 12.47%. Still firmly in control is Valdez’s teammate Jema Galanza, who continues to dominate the category with a commanding 30.08%.

     

    The middle blocker race has become just as dynamic. Majoy Baron of PLDT surged into second place with 18.83%, pushing Mar Jana Philips down to third at 16.19%. Towering above them, however, is Pangs Panaga, who continues to lead decisively with 36.91%. 

     

    Stability, meanwhile, defines the rest of Team Heart: Jia De Guzman remains untouchable at setter with 72.05%, Erika Santos holds firm at opposite with 39.02%, and Justine Jazareno anchors the libero spot with 49.76%.

    On the other side, Team Hustle tells a different story—one of consistency over chaos. Kim Fajardo continues to dictate the setter race with 61.75%, while Bernadeth Pons (36.94%) and Eya Laure (29.54%) maintain their grip on the outside hitter positions. Tots Carlos leads the opposite spot with 42.08%, and Mika Reyes (29.52%) narrowly stays ahead of Fifi Sharma (28.44%) among middle blockers.

     

    But even in a largely steady field, one late surge has changed the narrative. Kathleen Arado of PLDT leaped to the top of the libero rankings with 35.85%, overtaking Alyssa Eroa, who slipped to second with 25.43%. It’s a reminder that no lead is ever safe when fan voting is still open.

     

    With the showcase set for May 1 at the Candon City Arena, the numbers tell only part of the story. 

    Momentum, timing, and fan mobilization now play just as big a role as on-court performance. Every percentage point reflects not just popularity, but connection—between players and the communities rallying behind them.

     

    Even beyond the starting lineup, the All-Star picture remains fluid. Each team will feature 14 players, meaning those outside the fan-voted positions still have a path to the roster. 

     

    The remaining seven spots per squad will be determined through a broader selection process involving coaches, players, team officials, and league stakeholders.

     

    As the final days of voting approach, the message is clear: the All-Star stage isn’t just earned—it’s voted into existence. And in this race, the loudest cheers are being counted one click at a time.

    According to the league’s Best Blockers chart, Baron tops the list with 15 total blocks and a 0.88 average per set, while Reyes trails closely in second with 14 blocks and a 0.82 set average—making them the top two shot-stoppers in the conference.

     

    Their impact goes beyond raw numbers. In PLDT’s straight-set win over the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles, the Hitters not only brushed aside their opponents offensively but also frustrated attacks at the net, helping secure a decisive 25-23, 25-23, 25-13 victory and reaffirming their place near the top of the standings.

     

    Earlier in the conference, Baron and Reyes helped PLDT maintain a dominant front against Akari in a four-set triumph, with Baron’s 14 points and Reyes’ contributions helping tamp down the Chargers’ offense.

The win not only extended their perfect start but also reinforced their position atop the conference standings, highlighting both offensive efficiency and defensive solidity.

     

    Kath Arado, the team’s star libero, once again proved her value in the defensive department, finishing the match with 26 excellent digs and 10 receptions, orchestrating the backcourt with precision and poise. Offensively, Savannah Davison led the scoring with 18 points, while Kim Dy and Majoy Baron contributed 14 points each.     “Yung sabi nga ng mga coaches, lumalabas ‘yung strength namin kapag maayos ‘yung serve. Kung maayos ‘yung serve, maayos rin ‘yung magiging net defense. And kapag maayos din ‘yung net defense namin, maayos din ‘yung floor defense. So teamwork talaga,” she added.

     

    As the veteran middle blocker, Baron shoulders the responsibility of setting the defensive tone, guiding both younger teammates and fellow starters. Her focus remains steadfast on her primary role at the net.
