    What makes Bridges’ feat even more extraordinary is the era in which it is being achieved. In today’s NBA, where load management has become a widely accepted practice to preserve player health over the long grind of the season, long ironman streaks have become increasingly rare. In fact, none of the seven players ahead of Bridges on the all-time list began their streaks after the 1980s, further highlighting the uniqueness of his accomplishment in the modern game.

     

    Knicks head coach Mike Brown acknowledged both the significance of the streak and the delicate balance required to maintain it in today’s environment.

    “The streak that he has going is amazing and I definitely don’t want to be the one to screw that up. It’s crazy because load management is a real term. And that’s something that’s thought of by everybody, not just the medical performance group but by coaches, by individual players, by agents, by family members, and people get pushed to take time off for whatever reasons. And so for a guy like that to be at the number he’s at in consecutive games played speaks volumes,” Brown said.

     

    “I’m sure he’s probably cool with playing a few seconds to keep the streak alive but at the end of the day, that’s definitely led by me. It’s a streak that he has going on, and I want it to continue, but in the same breath, I also don’t want him to get hurt or anything like that that, so we’re gonna try to be as smart about it as best we can,” he added.

     

    Bridges’ commitment to availability has been a defining trait throughout his basketball journey. Remarkably, he has not missed a single game dating back to his high school career, underscoring a level of consistency and physical resilience that is virtually unheard of in today’s game. His ironman résumé also includes an 83-game season during the 2022–23 campaign, made possible by a midseason trade that saw him suit up for more than one team.

     

    “For the people that’s paying attention, I just want to try and play everyday. It’s who I am. It’s who I have always been.     Originally selected 10th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2018 NBA Draft, Bridges was dealt on draft night to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Zhaire Smith and a future first-round pick.     Franchise cornerstone Joel Embiid is expected to miss an indefinite period after undergoing emergency appendectomy surgery early Friday morning, April 10 (Philippine Standard Time). The development came just hours after Embiid was diagnosed with appendicitis, forcing him to miss Philadelphia’s scheduled matchup against the Houston Rockets.

    According to team officials, the procedure was successful, but the sudden nature of the situation left the organization scrambling as it unfolded overnight. Head coach Nick Nurse revealed that the team only became aware of Embiid’s condition in the early hours of the morning, disrupting their usual pregame preparations.

     

    “They had said that he had in the middle of the night, like 3, 3:30 a.m. or something, contacted them to say he was not feeling well. And so I think that’s kind of when this particular incident started,” Nurse said in a media interaction.

And then hopefully we can use Thursday and Friday and Sunday to get back to getting used to that scenario again,” Nurse continued.
