    After initially considering retirement following the conclusion of the previous NBA season, James admitted that he needed time away from the game to determine whether he still had the desire to compete at the highest level.

     

    “I thought I was done when the season ended. I wasn’t ready to announce it, and I knew I needed some time to really decide, but I was pretty sure I played my last game,” James wrote in a statement on X.

     

    “I was honest at that last press conference when I said I needed to look at myself and decide if I still love this game. I still truly love this game, and I have more to give,” he added.

    James explained that his decision was not motivated by financial considerations, but rather by his continued passion for basketball and his desire to chase another championship before eventually walking away from the sport.

     

    “The last few weeks have really been special. I have never been able to have no clue what to do and take real time to just think,” James said.

     

    “What am I really playing for at this point? I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship,” he continued.

     

    The move to Philadelphia represents the fourth franchise of James’ historic NBA career, following previous stops with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers.

     

    James believes he can help the 76ers become legitimate championship contenders and expressed excitement about bringing his experience and leadership to a new organization.

    “I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time,” James wrote.

     

    “Thank you LA. Miami I will forever love and Northeast Ohio will always be home!” he added.

     

    Despite entering the twilight stages of his career, James has continued to perform at an elite level. Last season with the Lakers, he averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game across 60 appearances, proving that he remains one of the league’s most impactful players.

     

    Now joining a Philadelphia squad built around championship aspirations, James will look to add another title to his already historic resume while attempting to further cement his legacy as one of the greatest players in NBA history.

    Franchise cornerstone Joel Embiid is expected to miss an indefinite period after undergoing emergency appendectomy surgery early Friday morning, April 10 (Philippine Standard Time). The development came just hours after Embiid was diagnosed with appendicitis, forcing him to miss Philadelphia’s scheduled matchup against the Houston Rockets.

    According to team officials, the procedure was successful, but the sudden nature of the situation left the organization scrambling as it unfolded overnight.     “They have played different stretches of the year without him. As far as what we do personnel-wise, we have got Adem Bona, we got Andre Drummond and we will use them both. And then hopefully we can use Thursday and Friday and Sunday to get back to getting used to that scenario again,” Nurse continued.

     

    Encouragingly for Philadelphia, Embiid had been showing signs of regaining form after a difficult 2024–25 campaign in which he was limited to just 19 games due to persistent knee problems.     Portland Trail Blazers forward Deni Avdija and Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey have been named the National Basketball Association (NBA) Players of the Week for the Week 11 of the 2025-26 season.

     

     

    Deni Avdija (Western Conference Player of Week)

     

    The Portland Trail Blazers enjoyed a stellar Week 11 in the NBA, posting a 3–1 record, and at the heart of their success was forward Deni Avdija. The Israeli star led the team with averages of 26.8 points, 9.8 assists, and 8.5 rebounds per game—making him the only player in the league last week to reach or surpass all three marks.

     

    Avdija has enjoyed a breakout season by his own high standards, joining an elite group of just three players in the NBA averaging 25+ points, 7+ assists, and 7+ rebounds per game. His consistency is evident in the season rankings, placing sixth in total assists, seventh in total points, and 18th in total rebounds.

     

    This marks the first time in his six-year NBA career that Avdija has earned the Player of the Week honor and makes him only the 14th Trail Blazer to receive the accolade. Notably, it has been nearly three years since a Blazers player last earned the award, with Damian Lillard being the most recent on February 6, 2023.

     

    Tyrese Maxey (Eastern Conference Player of Week)

     

     

    The Philadelphia 76ers continued their impressive run in Week 11, going a perfect 3–0 thanks in large part to the stellar performance of star guard Tyrese Maxey. Over the three games, Maxey averaged 34.7 points, 8.7 assists, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks while shooting an efficient 61.2 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from three-point range.

     

    Maxey is enjoying a breakout individual season, posting averages of 31.1 points and 7.1 assists per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from deep. He and Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic are currently the only players in the NBA averaging at least 30 points, seven assists, and four rebounds this season, though Maxey has been notably more efficient from the floor.

     

    This marks the second Player of the Week award for Maxey this season and the fourth of his career. In the Eastern Conference, only New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson and Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown have claimed the honor at least twice this season, underscoring Maxey’s impact on the 76ers’ strong start.
