    Sibol strengthens Asian Games campaign with Pokémon Unite, Honor of Kings, and PUBG Mobile rosters

    The Philippines’ national esports program is expanding its lineup for the continental stage as Sibol revealed additional players who will represent the country in more titles at the 2026 Asian Games.


    Following the earlier announcement of representatives for other games, the national squad confirmed its rosters for Pokémon Unite, Honor of Kings, and PUBG Mobile (Asian Games version)—three titles where the Philippines hopes to strengthen its presence in the rapidly growing esports scene.

     

    For the Pokémon Unite event, the Philippine team will be guided by head coach Albert “Berty” Camp and will feature Rence “Rubixx” Gatmaitan, Robert “SynC1” Mempin, Ducke “Dylan” Leoncio, Kim “Kyy” Salazar, Michael “Miva” Ocio, and Lance “Lance” David.

     

    The roster enters the Asian Games cycle with strong credentials. Several members have previously competed in the Pokémon Unite World Championship, showcasing their experience on the global stage. More recently, the squad demonstrated its regional dominance by winning the Pokémon Unite Winter Tournament 2026 – SEA East last February, a victory that further solidified its reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s top teams in the game.

     

    The Philippine lineup for Honor of Kings will feature Chammy “Chammy1” Nazarrea, Justine “Juschie” Tan, Dragon “Dragon” Dajao, Golden “Goldenk1te” Dajao, Charles “Chazz” Esguerra, and Jhon “Xyliath” Tungol under the leadership of head coach Gerald “Tgee” Gelacio.

     

    This roster has built a reputation for consistency in global competitions, regularly appearing in international tournaments for the game. Their best performance came last year when they secured a third-place finish at the Honor of Kings International Championship.

     

    For the Asian Games version of PUBG Mobile, Sibol selected Gerald “FV” Leanillo, Jamesdavid “Lion” Tacson, Steven “MICHI” Jimenez, Abdul “Monboy” Barode, and Francis “RANGE” Fusingan, with Dean “DehJeh” Mata serving as head coach.

    Many of the players have built their reputation through strong performances in the PUBG Mobile National Championship Philippines, while others have already gained valuable international experience in the PUBG Mobile Challengers League – Southeast Asia.

     

    While several titles now have confirmed lineups, one major game remains without a finalized roster: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

     

    Earlier announcements revealed that Francis “Ducky” Glindro, Denver “Yeb” Miranda, and Michael “Arcadia” Bocado will form part of the team’s support coaching staff. However, a new set of open qualifiers scheduled this month will determine the next head coach and eventually finalize the roster.

     

    The coaching position became vacant after former national team head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin moved to Indonesia to join NAVI, stepping down from his role with Sibol.

     

    Despite the pending lineup, the Philippines enters the Asian Games esports competitions with strong expectations—especially in Mobile Legends, where the country has built a dominant legacy.

     

    The Philippines has captured five titles in six editions of the M-Series World Championship, the most prestigious tournament for the game. The national team has also established regional dominance by completing a three-peat gold medal run in Mobile Legends at the Southeast Asian Games.

    SIBOL to reset qualifiers following ONIC PH and TLPH roster overhaul

    The Philippines’ national esports program is reshuffling its path to the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, reopening the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) qualifiers after a series of high-profile roster changes and a leadership transition changed its original roadmap.

     

    The reset comes shortly after SIBOL unveiled three coaches for MLBB, Francis “Ducky” Glindro, Denver “Yeb” Miranda, and Michael “Arcadia” Bocado — signaling serious intent to maintain the national team’s dominance in the title as it debuts in the continental multi-sport spectacle.

     

    ONIC Philippines, which topped the previous national qualifiers last November, has undergone significant changes. Star gold laner Duane “Kelra” Pillas departed to join ONIC Esports for MPL Indonesia Season 17, while Kiel “OHEB” Soriano was moved to Team Liquid PH’s inactive roster ahead of MPL Philippines Season 17. 

     

    Their exits removed two of the country’s premier gold-lane threats from the original SIBOL pool. Compounding the situation was the resignation of former ONIC PH head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin from his role as SIBOL head coach — a move that further blurred continuity within the program.

    Faced with a shifting competitive landscape, SIBOL opted for a full recalibration.

     

    “Since we need to get a new head coach, and the nature of the movements of the rosters of the teams, tingin namin we would have better representation if we redo everything,” SIBOL general manager Jab Escutin said.

     

    Rather than patch together a lineup from an outdated qualifier result, the federation chose transparency and competitive integrity — reopening registration and allowing the country’s best teams to stake a fresh claim.

     

    The new qualifiers, with registration beginning Monday, will determine both the incoming head coach and the top four teams that will advance to the national combine. From there, the final six-player roster that will represent the Philippines in Nagoya will be selected.

     

    The stakes are substantial. MLBB’s inclusion in the 2026 Asian Games marks a milestone for the title on the continental stage. For SIBOL, it is an opportunity to extend a legacy built in the Southeast Asian Games, where the men’s squad has captured four gold medals and the women’s team has secured back-to-back silver finishes.

     

    Looking ahead to the Asian Games, SIBOL has also set its sights on securing qualification in seven other esports titles alongside MLBB: Naraka: Bladepoint, Identity V, Puyo Puyo Champions, Honor of Kings, Pokémon Unite, and the Asian Games version of PUBG Mobile.

     

    With new leadership to appoint and a fresh pool to evaluate, the road to Nagoya now begins again, this time with heightened scrutiny and renewed urgency.
