The Philippine Men’s National Football Team (PMNFT) looks to cap off its PFF Tri-Nation Friendlies campaign on a high note when it faces Myanmar on Tuesday night at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

Both teams enter the tournament finale unbeaten after convincing victories over Guam. The Philippines opened its campaign with a commanding 5-1 victory last Wednesday.

While Myanmar followed with an equally impressive 6-1 win on Saturday, setting up a clash between the tournament’s two most in-form sides.

More than just a friendly, the match serves as a crucial measuring stick for both squads as they continue preparations for the ASEAN Championship in July.

The Philippines and Myanmar will also meet again later this year in Group B of the regional tournament alongside Thailand, Malaysia, and Laos, giving Tuesday’s encounter added significance.

For Philippine head coach Carles Cuadrat, the focus remains on building depth and identifying players capable of contributing in a packed international calendar.

“We are trying different players because to be competitive now in the football world, you need to manage a minimum of 40 to 50 players with good talent,” said Cuadrat.

Myanmar midfielder Myat Kaung Khant, meanwhile, welcomed the challenge and called on football supporters to watch what he expects to be a competitive showdown.

“We’ve played very well — most of our players are talented. We are in the same group so this match means something to us. I hope fans come on Tuesday to see us play,” Khant said.

While a sweep is on the line for the Philippines, another storyline centers on how far the Nationals have progressed under Cuadrat.

The match offers the Philippines a chance to build on the momentum generated by its dominant win over Guam, where the Nationals showcased their attacking depth with goals coming from multiple players in a 5-1 rout.

Another strong performance against Myanmar would not only secure a clean sweep of the Tri-Nation Friendlies but also provide a confidence boost before the country’s next major regional test.
