    Alexa Eala continued her breakout run at the ASB Classic in Auckland, booking a place in the semifinals after outlasting Poland’s Magda Linette, 6–3, 6–2, in a composed and authoritative quarterfinal win on Center Court.

     

    The 20-year-old Filipina once again showed her growing comfort on the WTA stage, controlling large stretches of the match with aggressive returning and steady serving to neutralize the experience of the former world No. 19. Eala set the tone early, breaking Linette multiple times and never allowing the Polish veteran to settle into a rhythm.
