    Jefferson shared his pride after witnessing his younger brother’s achievement on one of the biggest stages of his career.

     

    “First goal in (the) Philippines and I’m always proud of him and you know his quality he have big talent,” Jeff Tabinas said on his brother’s performance against Myanmar.

     

    The Philippines continued to dictate play as Sebastian Rasmussen extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 80th minute. 

     

    Myanmar briefly threatened to spark a comeback when Win Naing Tun scored, but the Filipinos quickly regained control. Andrei Leipold restored the three-goal cushion before Rasmussen completed his brace deep into stoppage time to secure another 5-1 victory.

    The Philippine Men’s National Football Team wasted no time setting the tone in the PFF Tri-Nations Friendlies, opening their campaign with a commanding 5-1 win over Guam on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium and the night marked a memorable introduction for newcomer Cole Mrowka, who made an immediate impact in his first appearance for the national side.


    Named in the Starting XI, the Filipino-American midfielder needed just six minutes to introduce himself, striking the opening goal and putting the Philippines in control early. From that moment, the match not only became a dominant performance for the home side but also a breakthrough stage for one of the team’s newest additions.

     

    For Mrowka, the debut carried more than just statistical significance—it came with the atmosphere of a home crowd and the pressure of expectations that he quickly turned into motivation.

     

    “Scoring goals is always fun but when you hear the crowd, cheer in that way, it’s amazing,” Mrowka said.

     

    The 20-year-old midfielder emphasized that while scoring was a special moment, his focus remains on fitting into the team’s system and building chemistry with his new teammates.

     

    “Obviously as a team you know you want to win. The goal always when you step on the field is to win. I would say, personal goal is to just play well and combine with my teammates. And kind of build those connections,” he added.

    Beyond the goal, Mrowka’s debut was also part of a wider team performance that saw the Philippines control proceedings and secure a comfortable victory to start their Tri-Nations campaign on a strong note.

    “It’s important. We knew like it’s a result that we should have. But you still have to do the steps to get there at the end of the day. It’s important and it’s a good building block into a tougher opponent. And you know we’ll see what happens,” Mrowka said.

     

    Despite only recently joining the squad, Mrowka noted how quickly he has begun adjusting to the system, crediting senior players in midfield for helping him settle in.

     

    “My first three training sessions and now a game. So it’s difficult when you haven’t played with people before so you kinda have to build those connections on the pitch,” he explained.

     

    “There’s obviously a lot of experience especially with the midfield, with Sandro and all of them. So they’ve been giving me their advice. And honestly the support they’ve given me is very easy,” he shared.

     

    Mrowka, who has been part of MLS club Columbus Crew since 2024 and spent time on loan with Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the USL Championship, now turns his attention to building on his debut.

     

    The Philippines will continue their Tri-Nations campaign on June 9 against Myanmar at the same venue, where Mrowka is expected to have another opportunity to contribute.

    The Philippine Men’s National Football Team entered the PFF Tri-Nations Friendlies looking for more than just a victory.

     

    With a new generation continuing to emerge and several players fighting to establish larger roles in the squad, the tournament offered an opportunity to see who could seize the spotlight.

     

    On Wednesday night at Rizal Memorial Stadium, several players did exactly that.

     

    Jarvey Gayoso and Andre Leipold headlined an impressive attacking display as the Philippines overwhelmed Guam, 5-1, to open its campaign on a winning note before 2,243 spectators in Manila.

     

    While the scoreline reflected the Philippines’ superiority, the evening was equally about the players who took advantage of their moment.

     

    Among them was Filipino-American midfielder Cole Mrokaw, who wasted little time making an impression in his first appearance for the national team. Just six minutes into his international debut, Mrokaw found the back of the net to hand the hosts an early lead and immediately announce his arrival on the senior stage.

     

    The breakthrough set the tone for a dominant first-half performance.

     

    Gayoso soon added his name to the scoresheet in the 18th minute after reacting quickest to a rebound when Guam goalkeeper Josiah Jones denied his initial header. The goal marked the former Ateneo standout’s fifth in 29 appearances for the national team and further highlighted his growing importance in the Philippine attack.

     

    By the time Santi Rublico calmly slotted home the third goal in the 44th minute, the match had already begun slipping away from Guam.

     

    Yet one of the most memorable stories of the evening was still unfolding.

     

    Andre Leipold entered the match searching for his first international goal. He left the stadium with two.

    The striker finally broke through in the 63rd minute after being set up by Gayoso, converting the opportunity to score his maiden goal in Philippine colors. Deep into stoppage time, Leipold struck again with a powerful finish that capped the scoring and punctuated an emphatic team performance.

     

    His two-goal outing provided another encouraging sign for a Philippine side continuing to build depth and competition across its attacking positions.

     

    Guam managed to spoil the clean sheet when Levi Berg capitalized on a mistake from goalkeeper Quincy Kammeraad in the 61st minute, but it did little to alter the overall narrative of the match.
