    “My expanding of roles from just being a player really happened within the past two years. I am in that transition period so from being a full-time player national athlete now transitioning to really grow the game here locally in the Philippines. So, it felt natural to some extent that I’ve always been passionate about growing women’s football here in the country,” she added.

     

    As Head of Women’s Football Development for the PFF, Rodriguez has prioritized expanding access to competitive leagues and strengthening grassroots and elite pathways for female players across the country. She emphasized that her focus extends beyond just competition, aiming instead to build a sustainable ecosystem for women’s football.

     

    “‘Yun talaga, leagues and also capacity building opportunities. My programs this year are centered on that to elevate the league experience and to share capacity-building opportunities. Locally, I wholeheartedly believe growth in participation. I am a very optimistic person so by 10, 20, 30%. And also more visibility for female professionals in the space and we have already growing numbers.

     

    “We’re planting seeds, but we need everyone to, continue to water it and nurture and likewise, for me, it’s you help us, but we also help you. I personally believe there’s always opportunities to help each other especially if the goal is the same which is to grow women’s football and football in the Philippines,” Rodriguez concluded.

    The controversy came to light after Artadi took to social media to share details of what transpired, claiming that the group was unable to participate in the highly anticipated exhibition game after event organizers failed to fulfill their financial obligations.

     

    According to Artadi, the PBA Motoclub had traveled to Poland for a Filipino community event scheduled on Sunday, June 21. However, despite making the journey and preparing to play, the former PBA stars ultimately decided not to take the court after their agreed talent fees were allegedly not paid.

    Jeck Maierhofer, wife of former PBA player Rico Maierhofer, detailed the group’s efforts in a social media post, praising the players for making time for fans despite not receiving compensation for their appearance.

     

    “Finally, to my husband na kahit kanina walang bayad nagsabi sya na magpakita sa fans at mag meet and greet nalang, nagpa-agaw pa sila ni JJ ng Nike shoes and jerseys. Mga boys, Ryan, JC, PJ, Paul, Jerwin na game na game nag picture taking and signature kanina kahit walang bayad hinarap nila ang mga tao sa Poland! Bumyahe sila ng 5 hours balikan sa Warsaw to Wroclaw total of 10 hours! Mablebless kayo! Ang babait ng’ puso nyo,” Jeck stated.

    “I think it’s just a matter of how much she can manage her body, her mental and physical because if she’s able to continue further than other of her peers, I mean, she can keep a strong legacy. It’s all about continuation and the support because if she’s around, a lot of Filipinos will be behind her. And also, I think the world globally is catching on and I think it’s inspiring other nations as well that someone can be that supported,” Mamiit continued.

     

    Beyond celebrating his own Hall of Fame induction, Mamiit also spoke passionately about giving back to the sport that shaped his life. While his competitive playing days are behind him, he remains committed to developing future Filipino tennis talent through coaching and mentorship.

Really work hard, keep chasing the impossible dream and keep pushing the boundaries,” Dumapong-Ancheta continued.
