The Philippine Men’s National Football Team appears to be finding its identity at just the right time.

Fresh from a 5-1 victory over Guam last week, the Filipinos delivered another emphatic result on Tuesday, defeating Myanmar, 5-1, to close out their Tri-Nation Friendlies campaign at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

While the scoreline once again highlighted the team’s attacking quality, the tournament may ultimately be remembered for revealing the growing chemistry and depth within the national squad.

The breakthrough against Myanmar came just before halftime when Jefferson Tabinas found the back of the net to hand the Philippines a 1-0 advantage. The goal set the tone for a second-half surge that showcased both familiar faces and emerging contributors.

One of the night’s most memorable moments arrived in the 54th minute when Paul Tabinas scored his first-ever goal for the national team.

The strike not only doubled the Philippines’ lead but also created a rare family milestone, with both Tabinas brothers getting on the scoresheet in the same international match.

Jefferson shared his pride after witnessing his younger brother’s achievement on one of the biggest stages of his career.

“First goal in (the) Philippines and I’m always proud of him and you know his quality he have big talent,” Jeff Tabinas said on his brother’s performance against Myanmar.

The Philippines continued to dictate play as Sebastian Rasmussen extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 80th minute.

Myanmar briefly threatened to spark a comeback when Win Naing Tun scored, but the Filipinos quickly regained control. Andrei Leipold restored the three-goal cushion before Rasmussen completed his brace deep into stoppage time to secure another 5-1 victory.

Beyond the final result, the tournament offered encouraging signs for a squad preparing for tougher regional competition.

Across victories over Guam and Myanmar, the Philippines produced 10 goals while receiving contributions from multiple players, demonstrating an attack that is becoming increasingly difficult for opponents to contain.

The emergence of new scorers may be one of the biggest takeaways for the coaching staff. Rather than relying on a single offensive focal point, the Filipinos saw goals come from defenders, midfielders, forwards, and even first-time international scorers. Such balance could prove valuable as the national team enters competitions where squad depth often separates contenders from pretenders.

With consecutive 5-1 victories and confidence steadily rising, the Philippine Men’s National Football Team leaves the Tri-Nation Friendlies not only with positive results but with renewed belief that it can carry this momentum into the upcoming ASEAN Championship.
