    Despite the announcement, uncertainty remains surrounding the fight’s official status. Pacquiao confirmed in a recent media interaction that Mayweather has yet to sign the contract, fueling questions about whether the rematch will be a professional bout or an exhibition.

     

    “Make him sign first. Then I will sign. I know he knows that the contract he signed is for a real fight. That’s how he got the advances from Netflix and the lender,” Pacquiao said, emphasizing that he will only commit once Mayweather’s agreement is finalized.

     

    “There’s no reason for him to cancel it. If he does, that’s his right, but he will face a lot of problems: from Netflix, from event organizers and sponsors, MP Promotions. That’s why for this fight, I made sure he signs first—based on my experience before,” he added.

    Pacquiao’s cautious approach stems from prior experiences with the American superstar. Between 2010 and 2015, Pacquiao signed multiple contracts for fights with Mayweather that never materialized despite repeated assurances from Mayweather’s camp.

     

    “Before the previous fight, we were dealing with him for like eight years. There were so many promises, and I think of all the times I signed a contract thinking that was the one. That was at least five years, with a lot of alibis. Him still changing his mind—you need to honor your commitment. This time, there’s no reason for alibis or excuses,” Pacquiao said.

     

    The eight-division world champion also stressed that he does not see the need for personal calls or meetings with Mayweather regarding the fight. Pacquiao remains confident that alternative plans are available should Mayweather eventually back out.

     

    “There’s no need for me to say anything because he already signed the contract. What for? I’m not angry, but that’s not right to cancel the fight. You have the right to cancel the fight, but you have a lot of consequences to face,” he said.

     

    “We have no problem with that because we have lots of options. Netflix is always there. September 19 is always there. Plan B, Plan C, a lot of options,” Pacquiao added.

     

    Although he officially retired in 2021 following a loss to Yordenis Ugas, Pacquiao has since returned to the ring. His recent draw against Mario Barrios last year and an upcoming exhibition bout against Ruslan Provodnikov on April 18 are seen as potential tune-ups ahead of a showdown with Mayweather.

     

    Meanwhile, Mayweather has not fought professionally since his 2017 crossover bout with Conor McGregor, though he has remained active in high-profile exhibition matches around the globe.

The landmark win marks a defining moment for the Foxies, a team that has steadily grown in competitiveness under the guidance of its new leadership.

     

    It was a balanced and disciplined effort from Farm Fresh, with Trisha Tubu leading the scoring charge with 12 points. She received ample support from Ces Molina, who contributed 10 points, while Ara Galang added nine. Complementing the attack were Riri Meneses and Royse Tubino, who chipped in seven and five points, respectively. The collective output underscored the Foxies’ cohesion and adaptability on the court, traits that have become more evident under the guidance of head coach Koji Tsuzurabara.

     

    Tsuzurabara, a Japanese tactician with a proven pedigree, previously led the Petro Gazz Angels to the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference championship. Like coach says, don’t think about winning—focus on how you win each point. And he always reminds us that our real opponent isn’t the team on the other side, but ourselves. If you beat yourself, you win the game,” Tubu said.

     

    With the historic victory, Farm Fresh now prepares to face the formidable Cignal Super Spikers in the first semifinal matchup on Saturday, April 11, at the Mall of Asia Arena. The program highlights the growing recognition that success in sports is not solely dependent on physical conditioning and technical skill, but also on the efficiency of visual processing and perception.

     

    Leading the initiative is Dr. Tess Yambot, chairman of the FDM Institute, who emphasized the long-term vision behind the partnership. She expressed optimism that the collaboration would become a sustained effort in uplifting the standards of Philippine sports.

These attributes can significantly influence decision-making, timing, and overall execution during competition.

     

    Among the first beneficiaries of the program is rising Filipina tennis standout Kaye Emana, who has already undergone initial assessments. Her evaluation included a comprehensive set of tests designed to measure and improve various aspects of visual performance, such as vision skills testing, eye-hand coordination, visual tracking, reaction to light stimuli, and enhanced visual clarity during play. These assessments are expected to provide valuable insights that can be translated into tangible improvements on the court.

     

    The rollout of the program begins with a free two-day “functional assessment” for national athletes scheduled on April 9, to be followed by similar sessions for coaches, trainers, and sports officials on April 11. Both activities will be held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, a historic hub for Philippine sports development.

     

    With this initiative, the PSC continues to demonstrate a progressive approach in athlete preparation—embracing innovation and interdisciplinary support to ensure that Filipino competitors are equipped not only physically and mentally, but also visually, as they strive for excellence on the international stage.

It’s a 48-minute game, they got some foul calls down there, but that was kind of iffy, but we came out with the win,” he added.

     

    Jones, who has built a well-traveled professional career across various European leagues, continues to adjust to the PBA style of play. His seamless transition has been a major boost for Meralco, especially after the team opted to bring him in instead of retaining former import Ismael Romero.

     

    “It’s my first time playing in Asia so I didn’t know all the backstory of TNT being the defending champion. I just try to play the game the right way and win every game. But it’s good to see everybody, energy is high and it felt good,” Jones concluded.

     

    With momentum firmly on their side, the Bolts will look to sustain their strong form as they prepare for their next assignment.     Despite the tight timeline and demanding setup, Reichel expressed confidence in her team’s execution, highlighting the overwhelmingly positive feedback from players and officials.

     

    “I always say I have the best team of the world, so my team was really very challenged in the last days but I have very positive feedback on the court and I think it will be a great tournament this year. Yes. It’s a temporary court. So after the tournament we cut it out and but it can be recycled again because it would have been really a nightmare to what we are doing with the court and it will be recycled after,” she continued.

     

    For Eala, the spotlight will immediately shine bright as she opens her campaign against Austria’s Julia Grabher on Tuesday, April 7. In a move that reflects both her rising stature and strong fan following, tournament organizers are planning to feature the Filipina on the main stage.

    “That’s the plan to put her on the center court,” Reichel confirmed.
