    Buss quickly pushed back against the claim, issuing a statement to The Athletic that defended James and criticized the idea that he did not appreciate the organization.

     

    “It’s really not right, given all the great things LeBron has done for the Lakers, that he has to be pulled into my family drama,” Buss said. “To say that it wasn’t appreciated is just not true and completely unfair to him.”

    “I was really, really happy, of course. And honestly, just so excited after I found out. I was so grateful,” Proulx said during a media interaction. “I would have been happy regardless, but I was especially happy on the drive home.”

     

    Beyond the excitement, the teenage skier said she hopes her breakthrough can spark belief among young Filipinos — especially young girls — that they too can chase big dreams in sports outside the country’s traditional comfort zone.

     

    “I’m just really happy and I hope I can be a role model to like other young Filipina girls and Filipinas in general,” she added. “I’m still in shock… every day I check my phone and I get new followers or new mentions and I’m like, whoa, did I really do that?”

     

    Proulx’s journey began early. She first tried skiing at just three years old during a family vacation in Tahoe, California. What started as a childhood experience quickly became a passion, and by the time she was seven, she was already competing. Eventually, she made the decision to represent the Philippines internationally, embracing the chance to carry the flag on a global stage.

     

    Her continued rise was fueled by international experience, including her stint at the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, where she finished 16th out of 44 competitors. For Proulx, that tournament became more than just another event—it became preparation for what she hopes will be an even bigger moment in Italy.

     

    “I think it helped prepare me also for the Olympics because it kind of simulated the Olympic village and I was able to meet a lot of athletes,” she explained. “I was able to get some exposure as to what the Olympics would be like.”

    The experience also sharpened her motivation.

     

    “And I think that also fueled my motivation… I was like, if I want this dream to come true, like I really have to put in the work,” she added. “I truly think that I was able to put my best foot forward and really, really push myself.”

     

    That work continues daily, as Proulx stays active in races while following a demanding training routine leading up to the Olympics.

     

    “I usually train around six days a week,” she shared. “I train with my home mountain at Park City in Utah. And we train at the Utah Olympic Park, which is essentially like a kind of private hill or a training slope just for racers.”

     

    Proulx also emphasized that competition remains essential not only for improvement, but also for enjoyment and team bonding.

     

    “Every race is always an opportunity to get better points,” she said. “And honestly, it’s also fun to be with my team… supporting my teammates as well is always fun.”

     

    Alongside Ceccarelli, Proulx believes their qualification can help shine a brighter spotlight on skiing and winter sports in a country where basketball dominates the landscape.

     

    “I hope that like both of us being there will be an inspiration for other Filipinos,” she said. “Because if there’s two, we could grow it even more, you know.”

     

    She also highlighted the significance of Filipino athletes abroad — like herself in the United States and Ceccarelli in Italy — helping extend the reach of Philippine sports beyond its usual borders.

     

    “Getting out there… and also to Filipinos abroad… spreading or having Filipinos that have like spread out to other countries, let them try skiing and other alpine sports or other winter sports as well,” she concluded.

     

    With Francis Ceccarelli and Tallulah Proulx both set to compete in Milan-Cortina, the Philippines is entering a new chapter in its sporting story — one that goes beyond hardwood courts and into the mountains.     Growing up in the early 2000s, he idolized NBA stars, particularly Hall of Famer Allen Iverson. Though not the tallest player on the court, Bumina-ang made up for it with his athleticism and fearless style of play.

     

    “I wanted to imitate Iverson. I loved how he played, his swagger, and just how he carried himself. I played the forward position. I wasn’t the tallest, but I was athletic. I loved banging bodies and just driving into the lane,” he said.

     

    While MMA is markedly different from basketball and thrives on individual performance, Bumina-ang credits the sport with teaching him fundamental traits that still resonate in his fight career.

     

    “Basketball training actually has some similarities with MMA training. We did a lot of sprinting, which I still do a lot now. When I played, I loved receiving passes on a fast break, so running came naturally to me.


    “Sportsmanship is the biggest lesson I got from basketball. In Team Lakay, we train as a team, and we win and lose as a group, just like in basketball. Teamwork is something I got from basketball that I still apply in MMA,” he explained.

     

    As Bumina-ang prepares for his bantamweight clash with Aurelio, the stakes could not be higher. A win would reaffirm his position as one of the Philippines’ top MMA exports and keep him in contention in the highly competitive division.     During the ceremony, Marcos Jr. personally distributed cash incentives to the medal-winning athletes, in accordance with Republic Act 10699, also known as the National Athletes and Coaches Incentives Act. Under the law, Filipino athletes are entitled to P300,000 for a gold medal, P150,000 for silver, and P60,000 for bronze. In a gesture of additional support and recognition, the Office of the President announced that these amounts would be doubled for each medalist, while every athlete who represented the country at the SEA Games received an additional P10,000.

    Kerr admitted the Warriors have not yet had the chance to fully process what Butler’s loss means long term, but emphasized that the team must quickly turn the page and rely on its rhythm, chemistry, and current momentum.

     

    “You just look at it matter-of-factly. We get it, this is part of the NBA, part of sports,” Kerr said. “I’m not going to spend a whole lot of time analyzing where we are in the food chain of the NBA, I’m going to focus on what we can do to win tonight and win the next game.

    “We have a good vibe going, we have a really good rhythm, we have found I think a pattern of connecting the game offensively and defensively. I think we can continue to do those things and win games. And if we do that we build confidence, we build momentum and keep going,” he added.

     

    The injury comes at a particularly critical stretch in Golden State’s schedule. With the team riding a wave of strong form, the Warriors improved to 25–20 with the win, extending their streak to four straight victories and giving them 12 wins in their last 16 games.
